What's Included

Energy Audit

What is an Energy Audit?

An energy audit is a thorough and detailed assessment of your building's energy performance. It allows you to uncover inefficiencies, identify the root causes of overconsumption, and highlight targeted opportunities for improvement. This process helps you lower your energy bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG emissions).

What an energy audit offers:

Status of your installations: A complete technical inventory of your equipment, its current condition, and how systems interact.

Energy performance assessment: A precise overview of your energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Personalized recommendations: Concrete, building-specific measures with clear estimates of costs and potential savings.

Support for obtaining financial assistance: Identification of available subsidies and estimation of eligible amounts.

With this data in hand, you'll be able to develop a structured, scalable action plan to optimize your building's energy performance.

Why Choose Groupe SBSE for your Energy Audit?

  • Tailored and high-performance solutions

Our team develops customized recommendations for each building, aiming to maximize energy savings, reduce construction costs through a strategic and targeted approach and sustainably improve energy performance of your property.

Financing

CMHC Financing – MLI Select

The CMHC’s MLI Select program (Mortgage Loan Insurance) aims to support the construction and renovation of sustainable, affordable, and accessible rental housing.

To qualify, projects must meet specific criteria regarding energy performance, GHG emissions reduction, and universal accessibility.

CMHC Financing – ACLP

The CMHC’s ACLP (Apartment Construction Loan Program) is designed to facilitate financing of residential rental projects by offering mortgage loan insurance under favorable conditions.

This program supports the acquisition, construction, or renovation of rental properties, while encouraging the development of sustainable and accessible housing across Canada.

Summary

At Groupe SBSE, we support you in achieving these goals through:

  • Detailed energy audits tailored to the program’s requirements.

  • Targeted improvement recommendations to optimize your building’s energy performance.

  • Complete preparation of required documentation to support your financing application.

ACLP plays a key role in launching projects by providing the initial funding required, while the MLI Select program ensures their long-term viability through advantageous mortgage insurance incentives. Together, these two tools provide complete support to developers, from development to long-term financing.

By combining both programs, developers benefit from global support, from project initiation to sustainable rental housing financing.

Standards

NECB, Energy Standards and Compliance

The National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) sets out energy efficiency requirements for new construction and renovation projects across Canada.

Compliance is essential not only to access certain grants, permits, and government programs, but also to ensure better building performance and reduce long-term operating costs.

Solutions Tailored to Your Needs

The NECB allows for three compliance approaches:

  • The prescriptive path: Requires meeting specific criteria for each building component (walls, windows, mechanical systems, etc.).

  • The trade-off path: Allows for adjustments, provided the overall performance is equivalent to that of the prescriptive approach.

  • The performance path: Offers greater flexibility by demonstrating that the building energy consumption is equal to or less than that of a code-compliant reference building.

At Groupe SBSE, we guide you in selecting the most suitable compliance approach for your project.

Our experts carry out detailed energy audits, identify improvement measures, evaluate both their energy and financial impacts, and oversee their implementation to ensure full NECB compliance, while maximizing the performance and profitability of your buildings.
